In cooperation with Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Eesti Energia, the Estonian Union of Apartment Associations, SEI, Tallinn City Government, Tartu Science Park and Tartu Regional Energy Agency, KredEx shall organise an all-Estonian energy efficiency week, the purpose of which is to make people think of energy consumption and a decrease in that. One week includes several activities and events to make the topic more audible and visible. Mirja Adler, the Head of the Division of Housing of KredEx, said that energy saving and environmentally aware behaviour are most of all a matter of the way of thinking, and to achieve that, people should think along. „Thus, with the events of the energy efficiency week we will try to direct people to think of whether unlimited consumption is absolutely necessary, or we can cope with much less, changing our habits a little,“ Adler said. „All establishments, companies and associations, who produce, intermediate, process and consume energy, or who have a message regarding energy saving to pass on to consumers, are welcome to the energy efficiency week. On our part, we offer the participating companies support in organising events and providing information about them. Saving is a wise thing to do“, Mirja Adler added. A dedicated web page has been opened for the energy efficiency week at www.energiatark.ee, where information on the events of the week and participating organisations, and good advice regarding generally saving behaviour can be found. In organising the energy efficiency week, KredEx has mainly taken example of Motiva OY, who organises a similar event in Finland every year. Campaigns and information weeks on energy efficiency are also organised in many other European countries. In all of Europe, the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will already be organised for the fourth time next year.
