State announces the call for applications for the grant for solar panels for apartment associations

From 11 July, the joint organisation of EAS and KredEx will start offering a grant to apartment associations for the purchase and installation of solar panels. € 5 million will be available for the grant, and the call for applications is open while funds last.
“At current energy prices, it is very important that everyone looks for ways to save energy and use energy sustainably. For its part, the state is helping households with a new grant. Grant for the solar panels of apartment associations increases the security of energy supply in Estonia and enables the inhabitants to participate in the green transition,” said Maris Lauri, who performs the duties of Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure.
The grant rate is 30% if the panels only cover the general electricity consumption of the residential building. If, in addition, the consumption of apartments is covered, or if the panels are integrated into roof or façade coverings, or if a storage device is also installed, the grant rate is 40%. The maximum grant amount per applicant is EUR 150,000.
According to Triin Reinsalu, Head of the Housing and Energy Efficiency Department of the KredEx and Enterprise Estonia joint organisation, the number of apartment associations that adopt renewable energy solutions in the course of comprehensive renovation has been increasing year by year. “We have seen a clear trend in recent years towards an increase in the number of apartment associations that are renovating their homes and installing solar parks on their roofs. Now associations have an additional opportunity to contribute to the energy efficiency of their buildings.”
Apartment buildings that have been put into service before 2000 and have three or more apartment ownerships are eligible for a grant. An apartment building must also be entered in the state register of construction works in order to receive a grant. Activities may not be commenced or pre-paid before the application is submitted.
For the complete reconstruction of apartment buildings, a grant can be applied for again at the end of the year.
Owners of small residential buildings can still use the KredEx small residential building reconstruction grant to install solar panels.
